Attorney General Gonzales Lies to Judiciary Committee

I hear that the White House is beginning its search for a replacement for AG Gonzales. They are leaving no rock unturned.
For those of you who are unsure why Gonzales had to go, the video above exemplifies one of the many reasons. Anyone interested in Gonzales' resume? Just follow the trail of slime.

The rumor is that Chertoff is coming in. Is that really a better scenario?

Not much of one, I admit. I don't think Chertoff is enough of a shyster to try the one about Habeas Corpus though. Gonzales said that just because the Constitution said "The right of Habeas Corpus shall not be abridged" did not mean that it guaranteed the right of Habeas Corpus. Slime.

Ok, I got lazy. The Bill of Rights says:

“The privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it.”

Gonzales said in one of his mealy-mouthed statements that an injunction against suspending habeas corpus is not equivalent to a grant of that privilege. This was in support of Dubya's suspension of habeas corpus post 9/11 link. F-ing slime.

Well, Chertoff has replaced Gonzales in the rape queue. This country is still f***ed.

It seems like Bush has been Prez for about a million years! When will the ash cloud dissolve? Oh, when?

When we as a nation, reluctant members or no, stop allowing the sale of ideas that are designed to create inequity. The recurring memes that equate wealth with privilege and exclusivity are especially damaging. Almost as damaging as the whole subservient religious construct. The US Constitution was designed to protect the general population from megalomaniacs, but of course if you work hard enough, you can get around anything.

The main thing we can do at this point is pressure our Representatives to get some balls & push for a change when the The Patriot Act sunset provisions come up in December reform the patriot Act Our so-called Representatives have really let the American people down lately.
There are lots of organizations that can use volunteers or start something yourself.

Affirmative Action!

The docket is going to be plugged by Dubya's henchmen for atleast a decade!

Lou Dobbs and I are going to go to Gonzales house and drive him to the Pen to release all of the Border Guards that he has wrongly imprisoned.

Historians are going to have a field day documenting this pathetic period of utter contempt for Democracy. What the hell is going on? There should be millions of people screaming for Impeachment. Now Bush is just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic and boy are the rats jumping ship!

What if he does start the Iran offensive in October?! For f*ck sake the Bush administration is so desperate that they are trying to ressurect the f*cking Cold War with Putin.

It is going to take a long, long, time for the rest of the world to get past the insanity, lies and contempt for Reason that this administration designed and implemented upon all of us. It may just keep escalating into the unimaginable.

Your entire political system is so fercokt. Lobbyist reform anyone?
Please tell me that the great unwashed have learned their lesson.

Actually I was thinking that perhaps some Americans may be ready to accept that the great political experiment is on the brink of failing. Maybe it is time to divide it into the two distinct separate visions that divides it right down the middle.

btw I am listening to Team America.

Hey there...
Found an article that might be of interest to you. It's in The Sept. 1-7 2007 issue of NewScientist magazine, and is titled "Is God Good?" Subtitle is "You don't need religion to be a moral person, so why is it found in almost every human culture and what is it for?" Cutting to the chase, it puts forth the concept that both morality and religion are evolutionary adaptations. I need to read it more carefully, but it's some food for thought, I believe.

I am just really getting into it now, and I will scan and send a copy to you.

As per my offhand remark about the USA remaining intact, one of the survey questions on the Power Of Ten last night was:

Question:
What percentage of Americans believe that the United States will be around 100 years from now.

Answer.
75%

Coinky-Dink? I think not.

Gonzales is gone - Nancy Pallosi called him "not forthright".

Like calling a murderer a bully.

Odds are that the Neo-cons will attack Iran before bush leaves office. Just listen to the sycophants like Norm Coleman. They go where the wind blows and it feels pretty cold right now.

No coinky-dink for me too.

Personally, I think that it’s high time that the British, French, Belgians, Dutch, Greeks, and Germans showed their frickin’ gratitude to us for WWII, and invaded us.

Vive la liberté! Encore de frommage! Küss mich, ich spreche Deutsch! ;-)

I like Lewis Black's take on the matter. Imagine him saying this in his usual pissed-off tone

"What we need is a good third party to break this stalemate, but we can't have that, because it's teew complicated!"
