Yoo-hoo! Oh Jehovamagod?

In the same vein as the question, “Why won’t God heal amputees?” I would like to know:

Why won’t God heal Progeria? It seems a lot simpler than re-growing a limb. A minor, microscopic tweak is all it would take, yet no case has ever been reversed. What could a baby do to “deserve” this fate?

If you’re a fan of the “born in sin” excuse, try these extra-point questions:

1. If “original sin” explains the plight of these children, how did you get a free pass?
2. By this logic, why shouldn’t we just murder the German and Italian offspring of former Fascist war criminals?
3. If a God treats his possessions like worthless garbage, why does that God deserve worship?

If you’re a fan of the, “Maybe it’s a punishment inflicted on the parents” excuse, here’s your question:

1. Would you poison your family pet to punish your child?

I know there’s a bullshit answer to all of these questions, so help me out here. If your answers are convincing enough, who knows? I might start believing in the Magical Meddlesome Super-Alpha instead of the simple laws of probability. Don’t hold your breath.

Notice that both of the theistic explanations imply that there's some fault on the part of either the child or the parents for which the affliction is a just punishment. That is, the child or the parents should feel guilt for their own suffering. Truly sadistic.

A wonderful example would be the religious zealots back in the days of the Black Plague. Since they believed themselves guilty of some random sin, they went around the cities whipping themselves, effectively spreading the disease they carried.

John Bradford's utterance, "There but for the grace of God go I" is still the only answer that can be offered.
Genetics is a myserious roulette wheel that we will hopefully be tinkering at warp ten within my lifetime ..I say bring on the Frankenpeople Uber humans, let's see what you got?

Anyway we wouldn't want natural selection back in action because then we'd run out of politicians and who would we get to do all of our thinking for us?.

Not sadistic, just criminal. This is part of the scam. If they can't make you feel bad about yourself, how are you going to feel grateful for the little crumbs of false hope that they throw you and for which you pay?

gigantor!:

Wonderful handle. I would not think you were old enough to remember that crappy cartoon. Truly the Hanna-Barberra of Anime. Amazing how many twists a good manipulator can put into a human brain, isn't it?

homo escapions:

All can be explained in terms of gaming logic. If it is possible, no matter how improbable, it can happen to someone. Roll 'dem bones!

Who are you a mere mortal to question the motives God Almighty?
Just trust in the wisdom of The all knowing God & it will all be revealed to you after you Die.

For the same reason people stay with abusive or deranged spouses - out of fear and because they don't know what else to do. Pretty stupid, eh?

Right on Anon. I think that the religious suffer from abused child syndrome.

It is sad, but unfortunately, its genetic bad luck. Nothing to do with the parent's sins or some moron's sins.

There is but one sin, and that is the sin of stupidity.
